Birthday Celebrations - Part 5: The Big Birthday Bash

Lots of our friends and family members joined us for a great birthday celebration this past Sunday. Paw-Paw and Parin worked hard grilling burgers and hot dogs for everyone to eat. Grannie made sure I took a good restful nap then got me ready for the party. And Daddy, Mommy, Uncle James, and Aunt Emmy spent lots of time getting the room set up, decorating, and getting the other food and drinks ready. We had a great party! As everyone began arriving, we all visited and had lunch.

Our neighbors Shelly and Finn (Jonas didn't make this picture!) came! They moved into our neighborhood just a few months before we did, and ironically she went to Tech with Mommy and Daddy, so they already knew each other!

More pictures of people arriving... I see I'm on the side in Aunt Shane's arms... there's Aunt Jean, my cousin Jenny, Aunt Emmy, and David... Everyone at hamburgers and hot dogs!

Then... it was time for cake!
Much to the disappointment of most people, I really wasn't interested in the cake. I'm just not much of a sweets person. But I id want to kiss George on the cake!
Then, I got to open all the fabulous gifts our guests gave me!

After I opened all my gifts, Mommy and Grannie served up plates of ice cream and cupcakes for everyone! Gram and Aunt Lori passed them out. It looks like Katherine was really enjoying her ice cream!

I may not have been very interested in the cake, but I sure did want a cookie sucker! (I've seen them in my house all week - wouldn't you have wanted one, too?) And I just had to kiss "George" on the cookie!

We also had a "George" piniata. It was a pull-piniata, so instead of being blindfolded to swing a stick at it, we all just got to pull a long ribbon to open it!

We planned to go swimming, but we got a phone call early that morning that the pump to the pool went out, so we didn't get to use the pool. That was okay, though - we played on the playground instead!
Is this Garrett or Elliott - not sure??

Parin was really tired from all the hard work he did making my birthday weekend so incredibly special! Thanks Parin - I love you!!

We had a great weekend! Thanks to everyone for celebrating with us! We're so excited that we live in Louisiana and can enjoy events like this with our dear friends and family!

(Mommy has great video of me with the cake and other things from the weekend, but she's having a difficult time getting it to upload to the blog. She'll try again another day this weekend!)

Birthday Celebrations - Part 4: Preparations for the Big Birthday Bash

Mommy and Grannie worked really hard getting ready for my party during last week. The day of my party everyone at our house helped pull it together. Lots of thanks to Parin, Aunt Emmy, Uncle James, Grannie, and Paw-Paw! Mommy and Daddy couldn't have pulled it off without all of you!!

Here's some pictures of the preparations:

Birthday Celebrations - Part 3: My Backyard

Grannie and Paw-Paw surprised me Thursday with two big heavy boxes for my birthday present. It's a new wooden playset! But, it was all in pieces! Friday, Daddy spent all evening framing a play area for me, so that once the set was built a mulch surface could be put down around it. He worked really hard and barely missesd the rain that night.

Around the time Daddy finished building the frame, Grannie, Paw-Paw, Parin, Aunt Emmy, and Uncle James arrived! We all had dinner, then I went to bed - Friday was a long busy day for me! That night Daddy, Parin, and Paw-Paw spent hours sorting all the parts and getting everything ready to build the playset the next day.

Saturday was full of hard work! Daddy, Paw-Paw, and Uncle James worked really hard building my new playset. When Parin and Aunt Emmy returned from Katherine's dance recital in Mandeville, they gave me my birthday present from them - a new picnic table!

I watched them building the playset from our living room window.

Grannie took me into the backyard to see my new playset!

Paw-Paw and Parin helped me onto the slide for the first time.

I'm a master at swinging - it's so fun!

Weeeee! The slide is great!

And I'm such a big boy sitting at my new table!

Daddy did a great job framing a playground surface for me, too!

Birthday Celebrations - Part 2: St. Jude Play-N-Pray Party

Mommy and I are part of a play group at our church, St. Jude. We usually meet on alternating Friday mornings for a couple of hours. I get to play with my friends, and Mommy gets to visit with all the other moms. We didn't have Play-n-Pray this past Friday, so Mommy and I invited our group to meet us at the playground in our subdivision for a birthday celebration for me. We brought cupcakes and juices to share. Everyone had a great time!

We all had a great time on the playground!

Oh - that ice is really really cold!!!

Everyone really enjoyed their cupcakes!

We had fun playing in the ice, too!
I was really tired after all the fun!
I could barely keep my eyes open in the car!

Birthday celebrations are exhausting! I took a 3 hour nap after that party!

Birthday Celebrations - Part 1: Dinner at Chuck E. Cheese

Mommy and Daddy both had to work on my birthday last Thursday. That's okay though, because Grannie and Paw-Paw took me out to lunch and to the mall to ride the carousel!
That evening I went to Chuck E. Cheese for the first time. And boy, did I have a great time! I went with Mommy, Daddy, Grannie, Paw-Paw, Gram, Mr. Bob, and Grandpa. Riding all the rides was really fun! And they brought me a cake and presents, too! I could really start to like this whole "birthday" thing after all. Here are some pictures and video from that evening.
