An Evening with the Van Matres!

Friday evening, Mr. Scotty, Mrs. Erin, and Aiden came over for dinner.  Daddy inflated our backyard pools and filled them with water for us to play in.  We had a blast!  Aiden and I played for hours!

Madeline even got a little time in her little pool.
Isn't she just so cute??

When it was time to eat, Mommy and Mrs. Erin made Aiden and me get out to sit at my little table.  That didn't last very long though.  Soon, we were back in the pool and Mommy was feeding us bites from the side.  We just couldn't stop playing!

We played even when it was dark.  To our surprise, the lights Daddy hung around our fence last year still work!  We were having such a great time!

A Week at VBS

Last week was VBS at St. Jude.  Typically, you must be four years old to participate.  But... if you have a parent who's volunteering for the program, you can go in the "Little Prophets" program at three.  Mommy had to work all week, but Grangie wanted to help out.  So she talked to Mrs. Lindsey, who welcomed her help.  So I got to go too!

It was an interesting week for me.  See, never before have I had to be left without Mommy, or Grangie, or Daddy, or Paw-Paw.  For the entire first three years of my life, I've always had one of these most special people with me.  Literally.  So when Grangie took me to my class, even though I knew almost all the other kids in there, I was still really apprehensive!  I did really well the first day.  The next day, not so much.  Tuesday-Thursday were a bit, errr, rocky.  But by Friday, I was asking to go back the next week!

Despite the adjustments, I had a good time.  We learned about God.  We learned stories and prayers.  We got to eat snacks.  And we made lots of crafts!

We love lazy weekends!

Kart Ranch!

Our cousins, Garrett and Elliott, had their birthday party at the Kart Ranch in Lafayette.  Daddy, Mommy, Madeline, and I packed up that Saturday morning and headed over there to celebrate with them.  Their party was in the morning, so it wasn't too hot outside yet.

First, Daddy and I rode the go-karts!

Madeline just hung out with the other babies.

Then Daddy and I rode the bumper boats with Nick and Gabbie.  That was lots of fun!  It worked out such that it was just our two boats - no one else - so it was calm for us little ones.  We got to ride for a long time, too!

Madeline rode a car inside with Gabbie and Sawyer!

Then I rode one with her, too!
