Friday was my second birthday. It's hard to believe it's been a whole two years! I'm a very blessed and loved little boy, and really appreciate all that everyone did to make my birthday so very special!
The evening before my birthday I helped Mommy bake and decorate my birthday cakes. We made two cakes -- one for my party at Play-n-Pray on Friday and another for my party at home on Saturday -- and some cupcakes for my party. I helped stir the batter and add sprinkles to make it colorful. Then, once all the cakes were baking, Mommy let me lick the spatula and the bowl. Boy, was that yummy! Then I sat with Daddy and Grannie and watched Mommy decorate my cake for Play-n-Pray. She made clowns out of icing, and I got to insert the plastic clown heads.
Friday morning, I got ready and we headed out to Play-n-Pray at church. It was also Mariana's birthday, so her mom worked with Mommy to plan a great birthday party for us. There were 41 kids there that day! We played, did a craft, and celebrated our birthdays with party hats, cake, ice cream, goldfish, juice, and party favor bags. It was a fun morning!
After Play-n-Pray, we picked Daddy up and headed to my very favorite place for lunch and some fun -- The Mall of Louisiana! We ate chick-chick (Chick-fil-A) for lunch, then Daddy took me on the carousel. Then I got to go to Build-A-Bear and make a new animal for my birthday. Immediately when we walked it I chose the monkey. I knew the drill - and headed straight for the stuffing machine. I picked a heart, kissed it, and put it inside. Then I cleaned my monkey up, brushed his hair, and headed for the computers to make his birth certificate. I named him "Mon-Mon" - and he has the same birthday as I do!
That evening, there was a knock at the door. It was the UPS lady with a package for me! It was from Aunt Leslie and Uncle Aaron. I was probably supposed to wait until the next day, but I was so excited it was for me that Daddy told me I could open it right then. She sent me a gift card and some books. They're the Little Mister and Little Miss book set -- they were Aunt Leslie's favorite books when she was a little girl! I'm so excited to read them all!
When Paw-Paw got to town, we grabbed dinner at Logans. Why? Because I asked for steak! After we ate, two cute waitresses came and got me. They took me to stand on a tall chair, then screamed loud and told the whole restaurant it was my birthday. That was fun!
Saturday morning when I woke up, Grannie and Paw-Paw surprised me with part of my birthday gift from them -- a play kitchen! I immediately took to it, ready to wash dishes and cook. I quickly learned which doors were the oven, microwave, dishwasher, and refrigerator. I stirred in the pots and washed the dishes. I made eggs and coffee to feed Paw-Paw for breakfast. Then it was time to get ready for the day.
We headed out and stopped at Starbucks for my favorites -- a rice krispie treat and milk! Daddy stayed home to get a few last things ready in the yard for my party. Mommy, Paw-Paw, and Grannie took me to Toys-r-Us to pick out some "food" and "pots" for my kitchen. I had a gift card I received in the mail from Geoffery at Toys-r-Us, so when we got there they made me the Birthday Star with a crown and a balloon!
We picked Daddy up at home, then headed to the Mall where we met Parin and Aunt Emmy. They wanted to take me to lunch and to ride the carousel for my birthday. Of course, I rode the bench! (It's my latest favorite thing to ride.) We then headed home to get everything ready for my party. When we got there, Parin and Aunt Emmy gave me my birthday gift from them -- the complete original set of Curious George adventures in a book with audio cd's to listen to. I love my Curious George stories, just like my Parin!
A few short hours later, our friends and family started arriving for my party. The backyard was decorated in bright colored airplanes and balloons. All the decorations and party favors Grannie and Mommy made looked amazing! It was really hot outside, but that didn't stop me and all my friends from enjoyed ourselves on the playset and mini-bouncer! We had a great time!
We ate Chick-Chick, then headed inside for presents and cake. I had so much fun opening all my gifts! Each time Mommy handed me another gift to open, I asked her, "This for me, too?" She kept saying "Yes, it's for you!", so I kept opening them! I got some great toys, awesome books, and handsome clothes. Thanks so much to EVERYONE who gave me presents. I'm so blessed!
Then it was time for cake. Mommy said "cake", so I dragged a chair over the table and climbed right up, ready to blow out my candles (I've been practicing!). Mommy lit the candles, everyone sang "Happy Birthday," then I blew them out (with a little help from Mommy). We then all shared cake and ice cream. And most of us went back outside to play some more. It was a great party! I'm so excited about everyone who came to celebrate with me.
After everyone left, Grannie and Paw-Paw gave me one more present -- a sandbox! Grannie's been taking me to City Park to play in the "dirt" (that's what I call the sand) and I just love it. So with Mommy's and Daddy's blessing, they bought me one for the backyard. I played in it for almost an hour that night! It's so much fun!
Thanks to everyone who helped make my birthday so much fun! A very special thanks to Parin and Aunt Emmy who made a very fast 24-hour trip from Fort Worth to celebrate with me. Thanks to Gram and Papa for getting the Chick-fil-A on their way to my house. Big thanks to Paw-Paw and Grannie for all thier help leading up to the party. And major thanks to Grannie, Paw-Paw, Parin, and Aunt Emmy for helping with all the last minute set-up and preparations. We couldn't have done it without you! I have the greatest family and friends ever! I'm such a lucky, loved, and blessed little boy! I love you all!
