Weekend in Jennings

After Paw-Paw's birthday celebration, we all hung out in Jennings for the weekend. I had fun playing with Parin and Aunt Emmy. And, as seems to be the tradition for when Parin and I are in Jennings together, he took me for a ride on his (big) green tractor!


Aunt Emmy got to go for a ride on a big green tractor, too!

All our family, including lots of my cousins, came over for a barbeque. We had a lot of fun playing in my little pool and the sprinklers!

I didn't want to get out of my pool, so Aunt Emmy fed me my hotdog in the pool. She's great!

And I got to play with my toys with Paw-Paw, too!

Happy Birthday Paw-Paw!

Paw-Paw's birthday was August 21. Yes, this post is very late (Thanks, Mom! Way to keep up!), but better late than never, right? Parin and Aunt Emmy were in Jennings for the weekend, and Daddy, Mommy, and I went, too! For Paw-Paw's birthday, we all went out to dinner at Kyoto - a hibachi restaurant. I was amazed at the fire on the grill, but I was a little scared by all the fast movements. The food was yummy, though! I especially enjoyed the edamame!



Once that crazy man finished cooking the food, and after I'd eaten two plates of edamame all myself (yea, that's a LOT of protien!), he passed food out to everyone. I ate some steak, shrimp, and chicken. And I ate off chopsticks for the first time ever!



After eating all that, I was so full! Here I am showing off how fully my tummy was!

Big Boy Potty!!!!

About three weeks ago, I got a big boy potty. Yes, it seems early. But several of Mommy's friends who have little boys suggested buying a potty for me early, just to get me used to seeing it. Apparently their sons were afraid of their potties. Well, not me!

Now, they haven't been pushing me to use the potty. They haven't made me sit on it for hours or anything like that. However, when I'm in the bathroom (diaper changes, baths, etc.) Mommy, Daddy, and Grannie let me sit on the potty. I usually only last for a few seconds before I get up. But again, they let me up because they're not actively trying to potty train me.

But I surprised them! Yesterday evening I went in the bathroom with Grannie for her to change my diaper, and like usually I sat on my potty. Well, to her surprise, I used the potty! Everyone was surprised! But, since they haven't been actively potty training me, they didn't really know if it would happy again any time soon. Well.... I pottied again this morning! Yep, I sure did!

So... we'll see where this goes. No one's getting too excited just yet. But I might just be well on my way to potty training! I know Daddy will be excited to not have to buy diapers anymore!

Splash!

Sunday morning after church, Mommy and Daddy decided they wanted to take me swimming. We have a great big pool in our subdivision community rec center, so they lathered my up with sunscreen, pack ed up our towels, put me in my swimsuit, inflated my floatation device, packed the car, and off we went. All that... to find out the pool was closed. There were water issues, so no swimming.

And we worked so hard to get ready - including chasing me, a squirmy little boy, all over trying to put sunscreen on my pale skin. So, they weren't giving up. A while back Daddy bought me a pool for our backyard - just a small inflatable "baby" pool. So Daddy got it out, and Mommy inflated it (Dad had already done the infating on the floaty, so it was Mommy's turn to get dizzy!).

They took me outside, filled it with water, and I dove right in! I had the best time splashing around. It's no surprise though, seeing as how I love my bathtime. I mean, it's just bathtime with clothes and all the splashing you can handle, right!?

Up, Up, & Away!!!

As you've probably gathered from the last months posts, Daddy's been out of town a lot. He had a really big project in Pittsburgh, so he had to be on-site for a couple weeks. But, it's finally open, so he's been home! I was so excited to see him the first night he was home, I didn't even want to eat my dinner - I just kept hugging Daddy! Here are some pictures of the casino. The company Daddy works for did all the lighting design.

Since he worked for so long on site, Daddy got to take a few days off. Since Mommy doesn't work on Fridays, he scheduled his days off on Fridays, too. It's great, because we get some extra-long weekends all together! Last weekend was the annual Louisiana Hot Air Balloon Festival in Baton Rouge. It's held on the campus of the Pennington Biomedical Research Facility, which means lots of walking around in the grass. So Friday evening we packed up my jogging stroller with the big wheels and headed out there.

It was so cool to see all the big balloons! I was fascinated by all the bright colors. We watched as they inflated all the balloons on the ground, then turned on the burners to heat the air. Once the balloons started to rise, they put their baskets upright. It was really neat to see. There were probably over 50 balloons!

Once they were all inflated and standing tall, and dusk was upon us, they began the "Balloon Glow." It was so beautiful! I was oooo-ing and ahhh-ing the whole time! The illuminated colors were magnificent against the dark blue sky!

Mommy and Daddy tried taking pictures of me in front of the balloons, but between the dark sky and the bright fires in the balloons, it proved to be pretty difficult. But, nonetheless, we have a few photos anyway!

Vrooom....Vroooom......

Two Sundays ago Mommy and I met Grannie and Paw-Paw in Lafayette for lunch. Daddy had to stay in Pittsburgh that weekend, so Mommy and I just wanted something to do! She also needed to pick up a few things at Babies R Us, and even thought there's one in Baton Rouge, it's always fun to shop when there's someone to entertain me. So... these were enough "excuses" for her to call Grannie and Paw-Paw to come meet us. So, after church we headed west!

Mommy packed a bag for me to stay overnight at Grannie's and Paw-Paw's house in Jennings. We thought that would help Grannie - she could head back to Baton Rouge mid-day that Monday, since Mommy leaves for work at 5:40 AM and Daddy wouldn't be home.

And, what would a trip to Babies R Us & Toys R Us with Grannie and Paw-Paw be like if they didnt' buy me something? It would be wierd! Daddy tells me I'm very loved, and that's why I get so many gifts. And I know he's right! Initially Grannie wanted to get me a Lenny (from the Wonder Pets) and a new Wonder Pets DVD (she's tired of the one I have!). I got a Lenny - and some other things, too. But most of it was for Grannie's and Paw-Paw's house so when I'm there I have toys to play with.

But the best part is a new Little Tikes Cozy Coupe - yep, you know the one! And that evening when we got to Jennings, I got to help Paw-Paw assemble it! And Grannie (knowing Mommy and her blogging addiction very well) documented the process on film, err digital memory. I was such a big helper to Paw-Paw!

I was very concerned about getting the steering wheel installed. I mean, what good is a car if it only goes straight?

Once the steering wheel was taken care of, I followed behind Paw-Paw to make sure all the screws were tightly fastened. I wouldn't want a wheel or a headlight falling off while I'm driving now, would I?

Paw-Paw did a pretty good job. I only had to tighten a few screws. Then, it was ready for my to get in! I rode around the halls of their house all evening!

After my bath, I got my snack and cup of milk, started my new Wonder Pets DVD, and settled into my seat at the drive-in theatre.


Ah.... Life is good!

My Weekend Morning Ritual

We get The Advocate (the Baton Rouge newspaper) on Saturdays and Sundays. Recently, I've been going with Daddy to get the paper out of our driveway on those mornings.
