Daddy's New Job & Me Hanging Out at Mommy's Office

So... After 6 months of being laid off, Daddy has a new job! He started today! He is work for the Louisiana Division of Administration in the Office of Budget and Planning as a State Budget Management Analyst. It's a lot of words, but it mean he's dressing up, going to work, and bringing home money for more toys. I really don't know what he does, but sure seemed happy when he got home tonight.
Although, as of Monday, we didn't know he would be working today. We didn't know when his exact first date would be. Grannie and Paw-Paw needed to leave a little earlier than Mommy gets home from work, so they dropped me off at Mommy's office for a little while. I had lots of fun at Mommy's office!
First, I discovered her tape dispenser.....

....and I quickly realized that the more tape you pull off the roll,
the bigger the wad of tape you get!

Then she let me draw on her dry erase board with lots of colored markers!

Working must be fun!

We all appreciate all the support, love, thoughts, encouragement, and prayers from all our amazing friends and families over the past six months. It's been a long and stressful time for Mommy and Daddy, but after over 200 job applications and a few interviews, Daddy has a great job with great benefits, good stability, and lots of potential for advancement. And best of all... no travel! He's going to be home with us every night!

Bubbles!

When I was playing outside this week, I was watering all our flowers with my bubble gun!

Mall Mondays

Today was the first a few week long Fun Day Monday at the Mall of Louisiana. Grannie and Paw-Paw met me and Daddy at the mall for some Chick-fil-A, free carousel rides (Did you see that? Free rides!!!!), and playtime in the play area.
Grannie sent these pictures to Mommy. I watched some other kids playing on the slides. They were walking down instead of sliding down. I though that looked neat, so I tried it. I did it really well - my balance was great. It was fun, too!

After the mall, I headed to the library with Grannie and Paw-Paw for a Summer Reading Program event. It's a busy day for me!

PS - For those of you who read this who have kids 12 and under, Borders (and Borders Express and Waldenbooks) is giving away a free brand new book to any child under the age of 12 who reads 10 books this summer! All you have to do is read 10 books, fill out this form (click on the link), and bring it in to any Borders, Borders Express, or Waldenbooks. There's a Borders at the Mall of Louisiana, but any US location accepts these.

Happy Birthday Daddy!

Daddy's birthday was, well, a few weeks ago. (Yea, Mommy's been slacking on the blog updates... good reasons for that, though, I promise!) It was a crazy and busy week for us all. Mommy took me to the mall to buy Daddy a card and a present. I got him a remote controlled little helicopter at Brookstone. I thought we could have lots of fun playing with it, as I love planes and helicopters. Boy, was I right on! And it's a good thing Mommy opted for the extra $4 replacement insurance for 2 years -- Daddy's on Helicopter #4 in less than three weeks!
The Friday after Daddy's birthday (last Friday) we went to Gram's house for dinner. Mommy and I made a cake to bring. I got to put all the sprinkles on the cake! And when it was time for candles, I helped get them all stuck in the cake. Can't you tell they're all really straight?

Happy Birthday Daddy!

Fun at the Library!

Grannie and I have been spending a lot of time at the library this summer! She's been taking me to participate in all the activities of the Summer Reading Program. Sometimes, when Paw-Paw's in town, he comes with us, too! We go to demonstrations, weekly singing and storytime, brown-bag movies and lunch, music classes, author visits, and much more! Some weeks we go there 3 or 4 days! And I've been reading a LOT. Each week we borrow four or five new books and read them over and over all week. I've read enough books to already achieve a completion certificate and get prizes for my age group!

The music time is my favorite! I'm learning lots of songs, love to sing and
listen to them at home, and even know the hand motions to most of them!

Here I am with Ms. Johnette Downing, the author of several children's books about Louisiana. Grannie bought me the story she read and sang to us - .
