A Hunting We Will Go.....!

Last Sunday afternoon was the St. Jude Easter Egg Hunt.  I was so excited to go, even though I had no idea what I was in store for.  Mommy got me and Madeline all cute in our precious (Mommy chose that word, not me!) new Easter outfits that Grangie made for us, armed us with adorable new Easter baskets with our names on them, and loaded us in the van.  All I knew was 1) I was going to hunt eggs, and 2) my buddy Aiden was going to be there!

I was really excited to see Aiden.  After all, I hadn't seen him in two whole days!  (Grangie made his cute shirt, too!)

 

We all gathered in the school gym.  Some girls walked around with these big baskets full of eggs and told us to each pick one egg from the basket.  First Aiden got his.

Then it was my turn.  I got one for Madeline, too.

And then it was time to hunt eggs!  Our age group got to look for eggs on the big wooden deck.  I did great!

Aiden did really well, too!

After all the eggs were found, we went back into the gym.  They asked everyone to count their eggs.  Daddy helped me count all of mine - 25 eggs!  Turns out, I had the most eggs out of all the kids that day across all the age groups!!  So my prize was a giant yellow egg filled with jelly beans!  (I'm not a big fan of the candy, but I've had fun playing with the big egg!)

Of course Mommy and Mrs. Erin insisted on a photo op!  Daddy and Mr. Scotty (Aiden's daddy) stood to the sides at-the-ready in case Madeline leaned too far forward.  It's pretty tough getting all three of us to simultaneously smile and look the same way.

But they attempted it a few times.

And it wasn't a whole lot easier with just me and Madeline, either.

I'm the Chef!

Saturday night for dinner we made chicken and veggie skewers for the grill.  And we had my favorite -- corn on the cob!  Mommy said I could help her get everything ready for the grill, and I was a really huge helper!  I kept telling her that I was 'the chef', like Chef Pisghetti on Curious George! 

First, we got the corn ready for the grill.  I took each ear of corn, added a slice of butter, some salt, and some cracked pepper.  Then we rolled them up in aluminym foil for grilling.

Next, we cleaned and (Mommy) cut up a bunch of veggies and some chicken.  We took those pieces and put them on wooden skewers.  It was so much fun choosing which one to add next on the sticks!

Now it was all ready for he grill, so we all headed outside.  While it was grilling, Madeline and I enjoyed some fun in the sun! 

Then, all of a sudden, I heard Finn's voice. Daddy looked over our fence and told me that Finn was also outside with his Mommy and Daddy -- Mr. Jonas and Mrs. Shelly.  Daddy held me up so I could see him and talk to him.  And before I knew it, Finn was as high as me!

Beautiful Sunny Days!

The weather recently has been fabulous!  So we've taken full advantage of it.  We are spending at least a little time almost every day outside.  Usually I'm cutting the grass with my lawnmower or riding one of my ride-on toys.  Madeline and Mommy usually hang out on a blanket.  And Daddy just kinda roams and tinkers in the yard.  This is really just a 'picture post' of a few afternoons worth of pictures.  Enjoy!  (Yes, there are more of Madeline than of me.  It's okay, though.  The bubbles post was all about me on one of these same afternoons!  Plus, Madeline is a lot stiller than I am!)



My Best Friend Aiden!

You probably know about my friend Aiden.  You've read about the connection between my mommy and Aiden's mommy (grew up together, now we all live in Baton Rouge, blah... blah...).  Friday, after Madeline's doctor's visit and after Play-n-Pray, we went with Aiden and Mrs. Erin to the mall for lunch and some fun!  We even let Madeline ride the carousel with us!

Madeline is Six Months Old!

Bright and early Friday morning, Madeline had her 6 month check-up with Dr. Reed.  Unfortunately because of my sinus infection and Madeline's double-ear infection, we've been there a lot lately.  At least this time was a healthy visit.  I still insisted that we wait in the "sick" waiting area; luckily it was super early and we were the only ones there, so we're hoping it was relatively germ-free.  The nurse called us back, weighed Madeline (20 lb. 12 oz. - She's a chunker!!), then brought us in an exam room.  Mommy laid Madeline on the table and the nurse drew some lines by her feet and her head.  I think she was trying to see how tall Madeline is (28 inches!), but all I could think of were those black lines are great roads for garbage trucks and recycle trucks!! 

So while we were waiting to see Dr. Reed, Mommy helped me draw some trucks on those roads!  (Mommy always has crayons in her bag!)  And if you look closely enough in the bottom right corner (in green, it's kind of light), you'll see that I wrote my name.  I do it almost completely by myself with just a little guidance from Mommy.  But for not even being three years old, I think I do pretty well!

Here's my big six-month old baby sister!  I love her so much, and she loves me too!  She's growing so fast!  Dr. Reed says she's doing very well - very healthy and happy!

When Dr. Reed put on her stethescope, I said "Oh, I want to hear Madeline's heart beep!"  So she put it on my ears so I could try.  Then she said I'm "Dr. William"!



What will Crayola think of next?

Last week at Target, Mommy got me a cool suprise -- colored bubbles!  I love bubbles, and recently I'm really particular about the colors of things.  Green is by far my favorite color.  And I know that purple is Grangie's favorite.  So typically those are my first two picks for anything color-based.  So when given the opportunity to pick colored bubbles, I of course opted for green and purple!  They're very fun, although they're difficult to actually make good bubbles with; even Mommy and Grangie had a hard time.  But still, lots of fun!  And they made for some pretty funny pictures, too.  (Don't worry, it all washed off/out!)

They may be meant for runny noses, but they got the green and purple out!

Mmm... Yogurt Bites.... My, err, Our Favorite!

Madeline still has just two teeth, but lately she's really showing a lot of interest in regular food.  So one afternoon last week, Mommy said she could try some yogurt bites.  They're made by Gerber especially for babies.  They dissolve very fast.  Essentially they're just freeze-dried yogurt.  So they're good for us, too.  It's still one of my favorite snacks, so I insisted on 'helping' Madeline try them.  Mommy showed me how to break them into smaller pieces, then put them in her mouth.  I really do think she liked them!



How many shoes does one (6 month old) girl need?

I have three pairs of shoes: tennis shoes, sandals, and "Jesus Shoes" (the dress ones I wear to church with my dress pants).  Madeline, on the other hand, sure does have a LOT of shoes.  It must be over a dozen pairs!  Okay, granted two or three of the pairs in this box no longer fit her chubby little foot.  But geeze!  It takes her forever to pick which ones she's going to wear each day!  (Thanks to our cousin, Gabbie, for a lot of these hand-me-down pairs!)
