Mommy got a phone call 9 days before she had to go back to work from a guy at the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development. He'd gotten a copy of her resume and wanted to hire her! He bought her a plane ticket to fly to Louisiana so he could meet her, so a few days later Mommy and I made a sneaky trip to Baton Rouge. Grannie and Paw-Paw kept me at the hotel while Mommy went to her interview. Ten minutes into the interview, he offered her a job that she couldn't refuse! We spent the next two days looking at about two dozen houses - and didn't really find one we liked too much. Mommy and I flew back up to meet Daddy in Detroit. A couple days later, Mrs. Evelyn, the realtor, sent a new listing to Mommy and Daddy - and they knew that was the house for us! They couldn't fly back again right away to see it, so Grannie and Paw-Paw went to look at it for us. They said we'd love it - so Mommy and Daddy put in an offer. A few weeks later, we had a house in Baton Rouge!!!
Mommy and Daddy spent the next few weeks packing up our house. Then, just before we were supposed to leave, Daddy's grandmother passed away. We took an unexpected trip to Atlanta for her funeral. It was very sad, but I enjoyed getting to meet the rest of Daddy's family, inlcuding my great-grandfather. Here's a pictures of me with my great-grandfather, Grandpa, and Daddy - 4 generations of McDaniels.
And now we're living in our new house in Baton Rouge. Grannie and Paw-Paw, Parin and Aunt Em, Aunt Leslie, Uncle Donald and Aunt Barbara, Uncle John and Aunt Jean, Gram and Mr. Bob, and Grandpa and Mrs. Judy have come over to visit us since we've been here.
Mommy started work last week and really likes her new job. The best thing is that she only works Monday through Thursday, so she's home with me all day every Friday! And, since we're close to home, Grannie is coming to Baton Rouge to stay with us Monday through Thursday to take care of me. She's doing her work from our house. So our third bedroom is her's now. It helps too, because Daddy is still working for Illuminating Concepts in Michigan, so he's traveling a lot. At least Mommy and I don't have to be home alone all the time - Grannie's with us! And I love that I can stay home at my house all day, and sleep in my bed when I take naps, instead of having to go to a daycare. Our new house has a great backyard, and I have a swing outside that I love being in.
We would love for all of our friends and family to come and visit us whenever you have a chance. Daddy says it isn't safe for me to put our address or phone number on my website, but if you email Mommy at her new email address (kimberlydmcdaniel(a)gmail.com), she'll tell you where we live! Mommy's and Daddy's cell phone numbers are still the same as they have been - they haven't changed them yet.
I'm now rolling over. I try to talk all the time, and laugh a lot. When I get really excited, I scream really loudly. Everyone things I'm just so cute! I weigh over 20 lbs. now (Not sure exactly, it's been 3 weeks since my last doctor's appointment.) and am more than 29" long. I wear size 12 month clothes, but am almost too long for them. My PJ's are all 18 month size so they're long enough to get my feet into them. Mommy said when she buys long sleeve and long pants it'll have to be size 18 month for sure! I'm trying to sit up on my own, and am doing a pretty good job. I'm also eating real baby food - so far I've had squash, carrots, and peas. I'm starting to think about cutting teeth, and love chewing on frozen teether rings. And tonight Mommy gave me a biter biscuit to chew on - it was great!
As soon as Mommy finds some time, I'll get her to help me take some pictures of our new house. And I have other pictures of me. We hope to hear from you very soon!!!
