Letters for Sam

Please help my friend!

Mommy and Daddy have a very good friend who lives in Virgina.  They went to school at Tech with Sandi, who is originally from Shreveport.  In August, she and her husband, Scott, found out they were going to be parents!  In October, they found out they were having twins.  That meant they were having two babies!

Samual and Sebastien were born on January 28, 2011.  Sebastien weighed 2 lb 1 oz and Samual weighed a mere 12 oz.  Since I was over 10 lbs when I was born, I cannot imagine how tiny that really is.  But they have had some great doctors, and their Mommy and Daddy are amazing advocates for their care!

I don't understand very much about what's happened with them.  Madeline and I were so blessed to be born so healthy, and we don't know what it means to have to stay in a hospital.  I think it must be a really scary thing for them and for their parents, though.

Sebastien is doing really well, and he got to go home a few weeks ago.  Sam has had a really rough time - it's been filled with highs and lows.  Tomorrow he is facing surgery on his belly.  He is having a hard time eating, so his doctors are going to try to make him all better.  So please say a prayer for Sam.

Here's where you can help.  This is taken from Mrs. Sandi's blog, http://fromaspeck.wordpress.com, where you can read more about this journey they've been on:

A group of ladies recently asked me what I needed. I thought long and hard; I don’t need things, Sam does. What do I want for him? For him to know how much people care about him, how much they love him, admire him, for him to know how amazing and strong he is. Something to give him hope and encouragement. Something that I can keep for him to read one day.

So I’m asking for letters for Sam, letters I can read to him each day. Short letters, long letters, drawings, anything. I don’t want to publish my address on the web, but ... you can send them directly to the NICU:

Samuel Stambaugh
Room 203 NICU
Inova Fairfax Hospital for Children
3300 Gallows Road
Falls Church, VA 22042

Please take a few moments to send a card, a letter, your promises of thoughts and prayers, or anything else you can think of.  I know Mommy has plans for me to help her paint and color some pictures for Sam.  I really hope Mrs. Sandi can hang one in his room at his hospital so he will know we're thinking about him and praying for him.

Thanks for helping my friend, Sam, and his family.  They know that we're all thinking about them and praying for them!  We love you, Scott, Sandi, Sebastien, and Sam!
