For months, almost a year really, I've watched with great interest the construction of the new Marriott Renaissance Hotel on Bluebonnet in Baton Rouge. After all, it's right down the street from our house and on my way to/from school (and just about anywhere else we go!). Daddy promised me that when it opened, he'd take me to stay there for a night! And finally, it opened in October, and at the beginning of November, Daddy made good on his promise!

We went on a Friday night. On my way to school that morning, I told Mommy I wanted a room "with the black things on the windows" [the faux balcony rails on the very top floor]. When we arrived, there were three big buses there -- the Stephen F. Austin State University football team. Yikes - there were a LOT of big guys there. When we checked in, I asked the nice lady if we could have the room I wanted. And she gave it to us!

We rode the elevator up to the 12th floor! It was high, but the elevator was super fast!

We got the our floor and walked down the long hallway to our room. I got to use the key to open the door myself!

The room was beautiful, and the view was great! I could see down to Bluebonnet and see all the cars!

Mommy and Daddy changed Madeline's clothes and mine so we could go to dinner to celebrate Grangie's birthday! Grangie and PawPaw and Uncle Donald and Aunt Barbara met us at the hotel. We all headed over to Cheesecake Bistro for dinner, then came back to the hotel to sleep.

The next morning, we did some more exploring around the hotel before we left. The pool area is really pretty, but it was too cool for us to swim. That's okay, I told Mommy and Daddy I want to go there again for my birthday!
